English Immersion Class Recruits Girls to Nianjema
Identifying and educating the best and brightest girls is a new Nianjema Schools initiative supported by TEF donations.
“Encouraging bright girls with good leadership skills is critical,” says Charlie Sloan, school manager. “Many families make the choice to not send their daughters on to secondary school. A full scholarship means that a girl gets a chance.”
Eighty primary girls benefit from an 8-week English immersion program each year. At the end of the program, 20 girls are offered four-year full scholarships for Nianjema Secondary School. Last year, 12 girls accepted and matriculated.
